自序

Why do I do music? I do it because I’ve loved music since the age of two. Back then I was in Hawaii listening to 50’s rock’n roll while beating on my dad’s drum set. One of the biggest factors that lead me on the road to being a performer was when my parents took me to watch a film called “La Bamba”. That incident sparked my interest to be on stage and to move people with music.
Over the years I’ve moved around with my family and lived in Shanghai, Guang Zhou and for the past eight years I’ve been in Hong Kong. During these periods I have explored and developed a love for the soul music of Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Earth Wind & Fire, Prince. The r&b of Boyz II Men, Babyface, Brian McKnight. The Jazz of Chet Baker, John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Jobim, Herbie Hancock. I’m also a fan of the great performers Fred Astaire, Sammi Davis Jr., James Brown, Michael Jackson….to name a few. I listen to almost everything ranging from retro rock to traditional Chinese music.
What do I think of music? I believe music should be used to lift people’s spirits and to break down barriers…..music in itself has no limits. It cannot be bound by laws, culture, or tradition. It is an ever evolving fusion of melody, chord, and scale from every corner of the earth.
I write music partly to promote an idea of a world unified as a global civilization. We can no longer be content with seeing the earth as its separate entities. Someone once made a reference to the world as being like the human body supported by its various organs. If just one of these organs fails or becomes ill, the other parts of the body are also affected. In the same way unless all the powers on the globe are working together towards a common goal we will all be affected.
On a lighter note, I also made these songs for you to chill and groove to.

我為什麼會創作音樂？還記得兩歲時，在夏威夷的家裡，我會一邊聽著50年代的搖滾音樂，一邊打爸爸的鼓，想是在耳濡目染下對音樂產生興趣。而令我立志成為表演者的一個重要原因，是爸媽帶我看一套叫「La Bamba」的電影，從中得到的啟發，令我立志要在台上用音樂感動人。
我搬過很多次家，隨爸媽到過上海和廣州，而最近這8年我一直住在香港。這些年來我喜歡上了Soul這種音樂，把Stevie Wonder，Marvin Gaye， Al Green， Earth Wind & Fire和Prince當成偶像。我亦很喜歡玩R&B的 Boyz II Men，Babyface，Brian McKnight，爵士樂的 Chet Baker, John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Jobim和Herbie Hancock，還有還有Fred Astaire, Sammi Davis Jr., James Brown, Michael Jackson等等…一大堆數不完的名字，通通都是我的所愛。其實我什麼所以有音樂都愛聽，由懷舊的搖滾樂到中樂我都無任歡迎。
我相信音樂，因為它能夠振奮人心，打破隔閡。沒有規則，文化或傳統可以將它束縛。世上幾多不同的聲音，都能夠在音樂的旋律迴轉和音階起跌間得到共鳴。
我創作音樂，因為我相信它的力量可以令世界大同。我們都不願看見世界充滿分歧；曾聽說過，世界就好像一個身體，由不同器官連繫運作而得到生機。如果其中一個器官生病了，其他的都難免受到影響。同一道理，除非世界上的各個勢力能好好合作，向著同一個目標進發，我們都會受到影響。
從另一個角度來說，我做的音樂，都是要令大家感受到快樂。

我喜歡簡單的創作

I like to write simply. Although some like to write a song in a few separate parts mixing and matching melodies. I prefer the more organic approach of composing a song from the beginning to the end. I admire people who can write poetic lyrics with complex and witty sentence structure, but I write lyrics simply and in a direct style. I like putting forth my messages in a conversational way…as if I were talking to you from across a table in a coffee shop.

我喜歡用簡單的方法寫歌。盡管有些人會用併合的方法，把一段段的音樂和旋律組合成曲。但我比較喜歡用老方法，一氣呵成地由頭到尾寫出一首歌。很羨慕有些人能夠填寫如詩篇般的歌詞，內裡充滿層次和妙著。而我填寫歌詞一般都是用簡單而直接的筆觸，用談話的方法把思想放在其中，就像與你在咖啡室談天的感覺。

Tonight is my first mini show.....
Tonight is my first mini show.....a bit nervous and excited. I have been really busy with rehearsals and promotion for my album that just released. For the show we'll be playing songs from my cd as well as some of my favorite covers. Also very happy to have guests, Fiona, Jun, Chet Lam, and Kay! It should be a good show!!
今晚，就是我的首個個人音樂會的大日子......有點兒緊張，有點興奮。這陣子，又要綵排音樂會，又要為剛剛推出的新碟做宣傳，實在忙得不得了。
在音樂會裡，我會表演一些我新碟內的歌曲，還會翻唱一些我很喜歡的歌曲。
而且更請到薛凱琪，恭碩良，林一峰和謝安琪做我的表演嘉賓！！今晚一定會是一個good show！

Just last night I was shooting for my MV
Just last night I was shooting for my MV "deng zhe ni hui lai". It lasted from 8pm to about 5 the next morning.....then I stole 4 hours of sleep before I went for an interview + photo shoot with Fiona and Endy. Still have work to do but I think I'm gonna wait till tomorrow......can't really keep my eyes open now. On a last note, Monica, the director of my MV is a very kool and artistic character...she reminds me of some Japanese comic personalities haha....and good film crew! Sleep now.
