David Tao Soul Power Asia Tour 2003
Famous Taiwanese R&B singer David Tao is on his first tour of Asia! Having played to sell-out crowds at Hong Kong, Malaysia and Taiwan, he is set to meet the Singapore audience on Sunday 7 December 2003 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, 8pm!
Tickets priced at S$68, S$88, S$108, and S$128 will go on sale at SISTIC from Monday 6 October 2003, 10:00am. The public can either call the SISTIC Hotline: 6348 5555 or book their tickets through the Internet at www.unusual.com.sg.
In an industry where singers churn out album after album within a few months, 34-year-old Tao has always maintained his stand of making ‘perfect’ music, spending years to produce and churn out a chart-topping album! In the 6 years that he has been in the music industry, Tao has only released 4 albums--one of which was a greatest hits compilation album--producing numerous hits like Black Tangerine, Regular Friends, Small Town Girl and Melody to name a few.
Not only is the Los Angeles-based Tao a gifted singer, he is also a talented producer and songwriter to boot! In addition, he has 5 protégés under him—Tension, a talented Taiwanese boyband! No surprises really then that Tension has been invited as guest artistes for this concert!
This is a highly anticipated concert where instead of special effects or fancily dressed costumes, fans can expect a good mixture of good soulful R&B tunes as well as screaming rock tunes! Known more for his singing ability and musical talents, Tao will be strumming his guitar as well as singing acapella!
With fierce competition in the Chinese R&B scene from the likes of Jay Chou and Lee Hom, Tao has managed to hold onto his position as the godfather of Chinese R&B with his numerous chart-toppers!
Besides recently teaming up with Lee Hom to write and produce the chart topper, “Shou Qian Shou”—the SARS song for Taiwan, his greatest hits compilation, Ultrasound (1997-2003) has also been hogging the music charts!
The godfather of R&B, Tao is expected to draw in a crowd of 8,000 people to this long awaited concert! Tao was last seen in Singapore at the Yes 93.3FM Hit Awards 2003 held on 6 September 2003 where he bagged 3 major awards--best producer, best male singer and best album title—making him one of the big winners of the night! He only narrowly missed out on winning Best Performing Regional Male Artiste and Favourite Artiste in Taiwan, losing out only to Jay Chou and Jolin Tsai respectively.
David Tao will be in town to promote his Singapore Concert in mid-October.
