KUALA LUMPUR: Close to 15,000 fans turned up at Stadium Negara on Saturday night to witness exhilarating performance of Asia’s R&B king David Tao Zhe.
The Soul Power Tour concert was his first concert tour since he switched from being a record producer to recording artiste in 1997.
ALLURING VOICE: Tao singing songs from his four albums at the concert tour in Stadium Negara on Saturday night.
The show, which lasted over two hours, saw the US-based Hong Kong-born singer perform 28 songs, which included Shanghaied, Zhao Zhi Ji (Finding Myself) and Runaway, which were taken from his four albums – Tao Zhe (1997), I’m OK (1999), Black Tangerine (2002) and his latest, Ultrasound 1997-2003.
Unlike other Chinese concerts where dancers and numerous changes of clothes were the norm, Tao focused on entertaining fans solely with his music.
Guest artiste R&B group Tension performed several duets with him.
Malaysia was Tao’s second stop after a successful three-night concert in Hong Kong last month.
He would next perform in Taiwan and Singapore.
